Description: The video recording of RIC 2025 Technical Session: T3 - Advancing ACRS Safety Reviews into the Next 50 Years. Since 1957, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) had held a continuing statutory responsibility for providing independent reviews of, and advising on, the safety of proposed or existing reactor facilities and the adequacy of proposed reactor safety standards in the United States. In this session, with Commissioner Bradley R. Crowell as moderator, a four- to five-person panel—including former Commissioners, former and current ACRS members, representatives of public interest groups, and representatives from the nuclear industry—discussed the legacy of the ACRS and its contributions to safety reviews of new reactor facilities. The panel also explored the essential role of the ACRS following the Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Energy (ADVANCE) Act and the process improvements made by the Committee.
