From the authors: ‘In our recent systematic review, we examined and summarized alterations in resting-state activity measured via functional near-infrared spectroscopy (rsfNIRS) in neurodegenerative diseases. Our findings indicate that rsfNIRS is a promising tool for studying neurodegenerative diseases, as most studies reported significant resting-state alterations compared to healthy controls. However, inconsistencies across studies limit data comparison, underscoring the need for rsfNIRS-specific guidelines.’
