Early in the year we decided to write a record that we'd perform live for video. We got inspired after doing a few Twitch creative streams and realized we had a ton of musical creativity that we needed to get out.
Each track had a few takes and was recorded over the span of a week. We approached it as each hardwave synth would play a role in the sound. The Korg Minilogue gave warm pad sounds. The Novation Peak added to the pad sound but would grow harsher in distortion when needed for the tracks. The DeepMind gave accents in plucky sounds. The Digitakt was the sequence hub and the drum percussion. The Analog Four Mk2 was the bass, arp lines, and occasionally lead lines. The Digitone filled out additional chimes and fx sounds needed. Finally, the Octatrack was solely background vocals for extra oomph in the choruses.
We started using this gear and setup around the beginning of the year, so we're still learning a ton of stuff. This record is the first of many, because the process has been extremely soul fulfilling.
