Synology Security Advisor is a built-in application you can find already in your Synology NAS and guess what, it already contains everything you need to secure your NAS.
In this video we will take a look at the Synology Security Advisor and see how this application will both identify security risks but also show you how to mitigate them while explaining why it is recommended to mitigate the risk.
There are plenty of YouTube videos that explain how best secure your Synology NAS and they are all valid, but your first stop should definably be the Synology Security Advisor. That should be your starting point and on top of that, you can definitely add other security related tips and tricks.
The Synology Security Advisor can be utilized in to two different "modes" and each mode will inspect your Synology NAS with different criteria. In this video we will follow the more restrictive mode but it's up to you to select the mode that best fits your needs.
Keep in mind: the Synology Security Advisor will inspect your Synology NAS for security risks, but it will not test your firewall. It is not an all-around security auditing tool; it is focused on the Synology NAS or device it is installed on.
