Teagasc researchers are helping apple growers improve pollination and fruit production under Ireland’s challenging spring weather conditions
Research by Walsh Scholar Ahmad Hassan Chaudhry at Teagasc Oak Park is examining the flowering patterns of more than 50 apple cultivars to support better polliniser selection and flowering synchrony. The work aims to help growers optimise fruit set, improve fruit quality, and increase yields.
This research highlights the importance of long-term monitoring, pollinator management, and science-based orchard planning to support a more resilient and productive apple sector.
