We take a deep dive into the Sony AVC-3400 (1969) and AVC-3450 (1974) portapac vidicon cameras. We look at their features and general operation. Mostly concentrating on the 3400, the principals of operation can be directly applied to the 3450. We look at how to power them up and drive them with the proper sync pulses. We look at the insides of the AVC-3400 and all of its external and internal adjustments. Finally we demonstrate the AVC-3400 in operation and go through the sync and video signals it uses and creates. A full deep dive into two fascinating historically significant television cameras, a demonstration using the NTSC television sync generator we repaired in the last video and other loads of other fun!
