A two-part project combining sycamore and oak into a single pedestal form — each piece dyed separately using Intrinsic Colours before being brought together. The colour interaction between the two timbers is what makes this piece work.
Turned over a week in December 2018, this project explored what's possible when you treat the wood as a canvas as much as a material. Intrinsic Colours gives a lot of range to work with, and the contrast between the two dyed sections is striking without being heavy-handed.

- Designing a two-part pedestal bowl form
- Turning the sycamore bowl section
- Turning the oak pedestal base
- Applying multi-colour Intrinsic Colours dye to each part
- Assembling and finishing the completed piece
