Sword Art Online is looking like it's going to get a reboot in the form of an anime adaptation of Sword Art Online Progressive which started way back in 2012, the same year the original anime came out. How did this all start and why did the author start a reboot of SAO the same year the original anime came out? What's different in SAO progressive and is it canon to the series?
