From Radiolab: A special summer series all about a misunderstood monster.
In the summer of 1975, Jaws scared an entire generation out of the water. The film burned an idea into our cultural memory: sharks are mindless, man-eating monsters. Next week, we set out to tell a different story about sharks. We’ve got five episodes about sharks over five days. We’re tearing down deep-seated myths about sharks, plunging into the water with them, and finding sharks that explode our sense of what they are – flying sharks, glowing sharks, baby sharks, sharks under attack, and sharks that may save millions of human lives. Our series, Swimming with Shadows, is out Monday, wherever you get your podcasts.
