Lt. Rollins, who arrested me, explained that once you are on SWAT, you don't have to spend very much time at the law library because your training hours are fulfilled by all the hours playing with big boy toys.
Rollins: Once you make it to your master peace officer, there's only, I think, one required class that I have to take every four years, and that is the Penal Code Update class. Other than that, I can take whatever classes I want to meet my hours.
Q: Got it. And are there particular kinds of classes you concentrated on in the past?
Rollins: I'm still in S.W.A.T. and it's all TCOLE-accredited, so I don't have to worry about classes. All my extra S.W.A.T. training covers it.
