Residents in Swannanoa's Beacon Village say ongoing flooding is exposing aging infrastructure problems – and they want to know which agency is responsible for fixing them.
After another round of heavy rain Monday, residents say storm drains got clogged, and stormwater backed up by flooding throughout the community of about 100 homes and many businesses. They say this is the fourth major flooding event in the community in the last six weeks.
Beacon Village business owner Stewart Cody says one of the biggest problem areas is near Park Street and North Street. He says the drainage system needs immediate attention.
"This is where the majority of the water from the upper part comes and floods this channel here," Cody said. "It has to be fixed. Some of it's collapsed. You can crawl under the road and see it yourself."
