These two stoves were reworked by me here in my stove shop. (Svea 123R starts at 1:54) The burning quality of the two is pretty good. If your stove isn't already performing like you see in this video, then adding an after market silent cap in place of the original flame plate will NOT solve your problem(s). If you are not seeing this sort of performance (or better), like in this video, from your Svea 123R or Optimus 8R, then your stove is likely in need of some maintenance. This could include a new wick, replacing the filler cap gasket with new, and/or a SRV (Safety Release Valve) filler cap mechanism repair.
