We have two portable AC units, we put one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Last year we “upgraded” to using a plexiglass window for the AC unit. It makes a much better seal and we can keep more of the heat out. It was fairly easy to make and install, I’m so glad we did it.

Every morning we open all the windows and lüften. Luckily we get a decent cross breeze from one side of the apartment to the other. By 9 o’clock or so it’s getting quite warm so we close everything off a turn on the living room AC. All the blinds and curtains are shut and we close off the living room to rest of the apartment.

We turn off the bedroom AC as soon as we are finished getting ready for the day and then turn it back on in evening before bed. As long as we keep the blinds and curtains drawn and the door shut, it stays cool enough.

Mildred also has a few gel cooling mats to sleep on, it took her a while to get used to them, but now she loves them.

I hope you are all staying safe and cool in this heat.
