Disabled people were a vital part of medieval society. And because there weren’t that many institutions available to them, most stayed at home in their own communities, where they could be looked after by family, friends or neighbours. And what if they couldn’t stay in their communities? Where did these people fit into society? Let’s travel back in time and take a look at how the disabled survived during the Middle Ages.
