What you are looking at is the Sun in hydrogen-alpha light. This wavelength lets us see structures in the chromosphere — the dynamic layer of the solar atmosphere above the bright photosphere.
Across the disk, the fine wavy structures are fibrils. They trace magnetic fields running through the chromosphere. Along the limb we see the same atmospheric layer edge-on, where thousands of short, grass-like spicules project above the edge of the Sun.
Extending much farther above the limb are prominences — relatively cool, dense chromospheric plasma shaped and supported by magnetic fields.
There are two very different prominence structures in this frame.
First, look at the tall, narrow feature on the left. Its morphology is consistent with a surge prominence — a relatively narrow ejection of plasma guided along magnetic field lines. Notice how tall and collimated it is compared with its width. Surges are highly dynamic; in a time-lapse we would expect the material to rise, fall, or both over a period of minutes.
Now look at the much larger structure on the right. This one is more complicated. At its base is a dense, vertically structured curtain, while above it numerous fine threads curve into a broad arch.
I would describe this as a hedgerow/arch complex rather than a textbook hedgerow prominence. The lower portion has the vertically threaded appearance characteristic of a hedgerow, while the upper plasma traces a much larger curved magnetic structure.
From a single photograph we cannot tell which way that plasma is moving. In a time-lapse, however, we could look for material flowing along the threads — rising, draining back toward the Sun, or circulating through the structure.
