A black granite flat plate I made a while back being tested 80 times with a surface roughness indicator. Mitutoyo SJ210
The plate with made using home made abrasives and is not yet polished.
80 readings: average 4.8 microns
I have a couple of finer grades of home made abrasive left to polish up and see if I can improve. My best filmed result is 2.0 microns. 1.4 microns off camera.
It's not looking good for Lost Ancient High Technology, every IMPOSSIBLE challenge is actually pretty easy. I haven't even gone for high polish and already I am beating their challenge.
