There's a new bridge in town down Geelong way.

Over the weekend, teams worked the graveyard shift to lift a new rail bridge into place over the Surf Coast Highway.

The new elevated rail bridge will replace the existing level crossing, reducing disruption to Surf Coast Highway traffic and Geelong Line train services and will be built away from the existing track.

The bridge is made of 16 beams which were trucked in lots of 4 each night from Laverton and installed by two 450 tonne cranes.

Not bad for an all-nighter!

Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) is the Victorian Government body responsible for the development and delivery of the Metro Tunnel Project, Regional Rail Revival, Melbourne Airport Rail, and the Sunbury Line Upgrade.
