Sure, let’s look at these rhythms side-by-side… if the 5:7 was played in dotted 8ths it would sound like the 1st example here. That adds a little syncopation in the middle. …the 2nd example is a true 5:7 #polyrhythm … the 3rd is a straight 4:3 (or consistent dotted 8th rhythm…) and for contrast I even through in the Hemiola. (3:2) …all of these rhythms are very close in sound… but all rhythms, including these, can swing to some degree. Some styles of music literally live in that swing. As I’ve said many time… never apologize for sounding human when you play.
