Students at the Samras Girls’ Hostel in Surat staged a protest over alleged problems with food, water and accommodation facilities. A student claimed that worms were found in the food and that there was insufficient water for basic needs, saying the protest would continue until their demands were addressed. Police were seen trying to control the situation.
