Eating disorders are serious mental and physical health conditions that often begin in adolescence, affecting students' well-being, learning, and relationships. They also frequently co-occur with anxiety disorders.
In this panel conversation, the Anxiety & Depression Association of America (ADAA) and the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) bring together Jenna DiLossi, PsyD, ABPP and Rachel Curran, MA, LPC, NCC to equip school staff with practical tools to support students.
What you'll learn:
Warning signs and symptoms of eating disorders
How to have compassionate conversations with students and caregivers
How to support students and caregivers through treatment
In recognition of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, this conversation also highlights the connection between teen mental health, anxiety, and eating disorders. As summer approaches, many students experience added pressure around body image and changing routines, which can heighten anxiety and bring forward or intensify disordered eating behaviors. This session offers timely guidance to help school staff recognize these shifts and support students with care and confidence during this transition.
