LETS GOO!!! My first insane demon complete!!! I spent 3 months on this level, and it took me 30,795 attempts. I was also super unlucky with this level, as I died at 97% twice, 98% once, and countless times after Virprin’s ball (85%). I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of my friends, especially one in particular (who will remain anonymous) who was there for me the entire way through this 3 month journey. I couldn’t be more thankful for the people I have in my life.

Opinions:
I want to start off by saying that I have always loved this level and always will love this level. However, in complete honesty, I have never wanted to not play a level more than I did Requiem. I started out having fun-learning the level and doing runs was really fun, believe it or not-but as I got around to playing mainly from 0, that just wasnt the case. My main problem with the level is how the difficulty is carried by the insane chokepoints that are scattered throughout the level. I would spend hours playing from 0 pretty much just dying to the same five spots (28%, 34/35%, 43%, 64%, and 78%-80%) over and over again. This made for a very frustrating experience and I hated playing from 0 for that reason. Furthermore, many deaths in this level did not feel like my fault, which made the whole experience even more infuriating. The gameplay is extremely janky and sometimes just didnt work which resulted in much slamming of my desk. There were a lot of areas were this issue was prevalent, but I want to talk about the main two areas for me, which were 64% and 78%-80% (the end of each dual section). The gameplay in these areas was genuinely just bad and it rarely ever felt like my fault when I died in either spot. I had a huge spike in deaths in both of these areas and it just got very annoying after awhile. Lastly, I need to talk about the ufo at the end. The ufo is way too luck based for a fair ending to a level. I would often joke with friends how it genuinely felt like I was flipping a coin every time I got there, except the coin had 30 sides and only one of them said you could maybe pass it. I ended up dying at the ufo 13 times, which is normal I guess, but the rest of the level is too luck based to have the ending be as hard and luck based as it is.
With all that being said, I want to talk about why I still adore this level, even after a miserable time spent with it. I firmly believe that, from an artistic standpoint, this level is a masterpiece. The decoration and theming do a phenomenal job representing the message behind this level and I am always left with an unsettling feeling every single time I watch a showcase or completion of Requiem. The story behind Requiem and the reason why it was made add so much to everything depicted throughout the level and I cannot begin to describe how much it means to me. Requiem, in my opinion, perfectly depicts issues that myself and many others have faced throughout our lives. I have never felt more of a connection to something than I have to Requiem, and for that reason, this will always be my favorite level in the entire game, even though I didnt have fun playing it. I can go on and on about different parts of the level and how much I love everything about it but for the sake of anyone brave enough to read this essay Ive cooked up, Ill stop here.
tldr: I hated the gameplay and had a miserable time playing it but this level is way too cool to hate.
The external copy:
I normally despise beating levels on external copies, although for a couple of reasons I decided to give in and make my own copy to beat Requiem on. The main reason I beat Requiem on an external copy was because the art at 50% is not layered correctly on the actual level. I do not know the reason why, but on my start pos copy, the layering was fine, so I just deleted the start positions and uploaded the level to my account so I could beat the level with the art displayed correctly. This however created a bug at 47% somehow that I could only replicate when I played from 0 on the copy that I uploaded to my account. I managed to make it so I could hit a hitbox that youre not supposed to be able to hit, so I moved the hitbox slightly out of the way to fix this issue. This did not nerf the level!!! You werent supposed to be able to hit the hitbox and I literally could not replicate the bug in any other way except on my copy when I played from 0. I also deleted the quote at the end of the level because... no. Outside of that, nothing else was changed.
