It's true. Jor-El had a best friend. But sometimes you don't really know a person until your planet is exploding because it's made of ice crystals and a giant sun is disintegrating it.
Glorb-Nar was like an uncle to Kal-El. He babysat for Kal-El one time. It didn't go great, to be fair. But he still offered. Which should count for something. Like a warning that your planet is about to explode.
