What if Super Mario Land came out much later, when the devs had more experience with the Game Boy hardware, what if it looked more like SML2?
In this re-de-make-imagining you can play the first level to imagine a world where that scenario is a reality (if only a little!)
Whilst the original idea for this was to look like an actual level from a much larger game, this is closer to a proof of concept, so there's quite the number of bugs/many missing things.
Designed with original Game Boy limitations in mind (sprite and background limitations) but running in Game Boy Color mode to make use of the double CPU.

This is a very good hack released in 2011 and created with Stake Editor. The story is basically the same as the original game, but the graphics have been modified to better fit each stage. Several new bosses have also been added, and Simon Belmont wears his outfit from Castlevania Chronicles. The difficulty is very high, but the secrets hidden throughout the game may help you progress.

This is a hack for Castlevania 1. It features:
* Fully edited level design
* Better looking usage of the original game’s levels graphics
* More appealing and fitting colors
* Infinite lives
* No loss of the Whip Power and Subweapons when the player die
* Lower pitch musics
* Less candles overall, but with more of what you actually need
* No knife candles
* Modified boss fights, focusing on edits on the original ones to make them more fair and reasonable to fight, with some surprises here and there.

The biggest improvement in this version is the CPU AI, which I actually toned down a bit recently so its not quite as hard, but it should play much closer to the arcade version.
Updates also include:
* Dozens of bug fixes and gameplay improvements
* Performance updates
* Various animation improvements
* Significant code cleanup (making it easier for me to work on)
*QOL improvements include:*
* Shao Kahn now starts his fights with a taunt
* Thunder intro graphics and animations have been improved
* Kahns shadow FX are closer to the arcade
* Kahn and Cage shadow FX should no longer cause slowdown
* Steady 60 FPS in almost all situations
* All finishers are based on proper positioning
* The CPU will randomly choose finishers
* CPU AI is based on the original arcade version, modified and (hopefully) improved to be more fair and more fun to play against
* Many hitboxes have been adjusted for improved gameplay
* Issues with throwing have mostly been eliminated
* Controls have been improved overall
* Audio is no longer panned left/right (for various reasons)
