I thought I'd do another episode of Super Mario Bros. X I found on the game's website. This one's called "Super Mario Adventures" and one of the reasons I chose this one is because it was one of the few that I could actually download, whereas most of the others had dead links. Anyway, I've done 2 episodes of SMBX up to this point, so there's really not much I can say about this one that's different from the others. The only major difference is that you only play as Mario in this episode, unlike the others where you could change characters whenever you wanted. Other than that, there's nothing special. It was a tiring experience, to say the least: it's too long, it's too hard, it has too many puzzles, it takes longer than necessary to get to Bowser, and it took weeks to edit - not worth the headache and time. That and the fact that it's my third SMBX playthrough in a row, made this an unenjoyable experience and I'm happy I finally got it over with, so I can take a break from SMBX at least for a while - both me and the audience feel the need for something new ! So that's about it for this series. Danny Rulez !

Fans have told me that a new game based on Mario Forever has been released, and I got overwhelming amounts of requests to play this, so well start with the new stuff thats been added, namely the letter worlds by Mariovariable3410. Other than that, the game has remained largely unchanged : its basically the same game as the first Mario Forever, but with some of the special areas removed, like the Human Laboratory and the Hardcore Worlds, and others added in their place, like the 2 worlds by Syzxchulun which Ive already played, and the new letter worlds by Mariovariable3410. This is what well check out first. There are only 2 of them so far : K and L. I must wonder what happened to all the letters before that ? A bit of trivia here is that that in the Famicom Super Mario Bros. 2, after you complete the 8 worlds, there are 4 additional letter worlds, A,B,C and D, so if those were taken into account, shouldnt these be worlds E and F ? Anyway, thats just not important. What IS important is the gameplay, so what can be said about it ? The controls feel responsive and fluid, like they did in the original Mario Forever, and this is a big thing, because usually the controls end up butchered in fan games, but thats not the case here. The same thing cant be said for the audio however : the biggest issue is that it hasnt been normalized, so on the menu screen the music is so quiet I can barely hear it, but as soon as I step into a level, it gets so loud it blows my eardrums. The same goes for the sound effects : the cannon blasts in particular are so obnoxiously loud that they cover all other sound effects, which is not how it should be - all sounds and soundtracks should be at the same volume to allow playing without having to constantly adjust your speakers. Another thing I ran into, which is shown in the video, is a glitch : in the first level of World K, youll come to a bunch of tall pipes you have to jump on. When you land on them, they fall, which is normal, but what is not normal is that you can actually walk BEHIND them at ground level, which also causes them to fall as if you were on top of them. That wouldnt be so bad, except that when you do walk behind a pipe Mario can no longer jump or duck ! I swear its true : you can mash that jump button all day, but youre not getting out of there, so you have no choice but to reset the game ! Now, Im not a programmer, so I dont know why this happens or what triggers it, but its the first thing that should be taken care of. Other than that, I had no problems. The time limit in each level is a bit too tight, but if you keep moving and dont mess around, its doable. Of course theres the classic not enough checkpoints bullshit of mine, where theres a single checkpoint in the whole level, and whenever you lose all lives, you go back to the beginning. In the long run, save for the glitch, this is a decent little world. In the following videos well check out the rest of the game as well, including World L and the Syzxchulun worlds again, just to see what they look like in this version. Danny Rulez ! I wasnt really happy with the idea that this level beat me last time, so I wanted to have my revenge ! And so I did: I got to the end, but once again, the cheapness level proved to be too high to actually hit the flag at the end, but at least this time I can show you the rest of the level - in the last video I only made it about half way through. After analyzing the footage from last time, I was able to come up with a strategy and make it to the end - well sort-of. Watch ! I dont know exactly who made this one, but either way, it still requires a bit of work ! Its pretty ambitious for a Mario Forever game, but thats probably the games biggest drawback too, as there are still some things that are.....unpolished. Gameplay is the most important aspect, so well start with that: the game plays alright up until the third level (the maze) where you must be small Mario in order to make it through. If youre Super Mario, you wont be able to fit through some of the very narrow spaces, which is unfair, since you should still be able to beat the level, regardless of whether youre powered up or not ! Theres no way youll know this the first time playing, so youll just reach a spot where you cant go any further as Super Mario and youll have no choice but to either restart the game or wait for the timer to run out....pretty big thing to fix there, dear creators ! The second problem is the lag: since the game is pretty big and complex it tends to lag a lot, which isnt so bad in the first levels, but the castle is almost unplayable ! It might because of my pretty old system at the time, and if thats the case, then its not the games fault, but if its indeed because of the games engine, then that must be sorted out ! Stemming from this lag problem is the ability to pull off some abnormally high jumps, which allows you to bypass entire portions of the level, which shouldnt be possible in the first place. Even if there was something stopping you from flying off screen, youd still have a hard time navigating the level normally, because youd jump really high and with no precision, so you basically have no choice but to just lag-jump your way through the whole castle, which is a complete waste, because its really long and actually looks fun to play, so its a shame they put so much effort into something that doesnt work like it should ! The game is pretty messy when it comes to the graphics as well. They tried something really original with some background elements in the castle, but its nothing more than just some regular images slapped together side by side with no transitions, so it looks very rough and crude overall, which is why I said the creators probably bit off a little more than they could chew here. It looks interesting on paper, and definitely has potential, but it requires some more work. It remains in the prototype stage for now. Danny out. Heres another game in the Softendo family: New Super Mario Forever. As you may have guessed from the title, its similar to New Super Mario Bros on the Wii, though I wouldnt call it a rip-off since it doesnt actually copy anything directly from the Wii game - it borrows the concept, enemies and powerups and reuses them in its own way to create something new. The overall concept is the same as Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES: same map format with 8 different worlds and 7 sons of Bowser you have to defeat, same enemies and even some levels look the same, so youll feel at home with this one. Graphically speaking, the game is decent, considering what it is, though the animations of Mario walking and jumping look a bit off and I noticed a lot of people making fun of this in the comments. Gameplay-wise, one thing I can say I dont like is how the screen takes too long to pan when you jump to the top - it freezes for about 1 second before it finally reorients. This could cost you a hit if you jump right into an enemy that you cant see - it should adjust instantly to keep Mario in the middle of the screen at all time. The music and sounds are very good as well: you get musical variety and the quality of the soundtracks is awesome. One thing they decided to change and I dont really appreciate is the sounds Mario makes when jumping (stuff like Ah ! Yeah ! HoUh !). Since its a platform game where you jump a lot, they tend to get irritating after a while and you cant turn them off - you have to turn off all other sound effects too. I would have much preferred the traditional jump sound effects of all the other games, or at least have an option to toggle the voice on and off, independent of the sound effects. Another thing that ruins what would otherwise be a great Mario fan game is the overwhelming amount of spelling and grammar errors - thought NES games were bad at this when they got ported from their japanese versions ? Well, look again: the word order is incorrect and many words are misspelled, making the messages incoherent and even confusing to read, especially in the early levels where youre given instructions on how to perform certain moves - I actually had to read a message twice before figuring out how to do the wall jump. Im aware the maker of the game is not a native English speaker, but couldnt he at least get someone to proof-read the game before releasing it to the public ? I kinda smell Google Translate here ! To be perfectly fair its not too much of a problem as far as playability is concerned, because its the gameplay that counts in Mario games and not so much the dialogues. If it were an RPG like Castlevania where you had to rely on clues and dialogues to progress, then yes, it would be a big issue indeed, but in an action-oriented game like this, we can let it slide. Other than that, theres no need to go into great detail about the game since its self explanatory - if you dont know how to play a Mario game then you shouldnt call yourself a gamer ! Aside from the F it gets in grammar, the game gets an overall A from Daniels Game Vault. Softendo pretty much did everything they could to recreate a Wii game on the PC, which is no easy task considering how complex it is, so for that I can only applaud them ! Well done ! Heres the Super Mario Bros. level set in SMB Crossover 2 - the sequel to the original SMB Crossover which I played last time....confusing, I know :)) SMB Crossover 2 contains 2 games (or levels sets): the original SMB on the NES and SMB 2 on the japanese Famicom (better known as The Lost Levels when it finally landed in north America on the SNES). At first I thought it would be a bit redundant to play the same SMB levels again, just under a different title, but as soon as I started playing, I must admit my mind was blown and the game surpassed my expectations in just about every way. What makes it so enjoyable is how configurable it is: theres a handful of different settings you can tweak to suit your tastes. You can choose between different game themes and soundtracks and even randomize them, which makes you feel like youre playing a different game each time, even though youre still playing the original SMB levels - thats whats so great about this game: the fact that they could take one of the most iconic games of all time and make it feel like a whole new game. Thats not something too easy to accomplish in my opinion, because you have to stick to the quality standards of the original - its really easy to patch something together just for the hell of it, but its likely to suck. Bottom line, this is one of the best and most creative fan games I have played in a while. I really enjoyed it in every respect and I highly encourage you to try it out for yourself - I guarantee youll love it ! Next up, were playing The Lost Levels. Danny out - Vault on ! Heres a Mario Forever game that I was actually pretty excited about: The Lost Map 2. The original dates all the way back to Mario Forever 4.0 and it was pretty cool, so I was curious to see how a sequel would turn out. I was in for a bit of a surprise, because unlike the original, this one is brutally difficult ! The game itself is well done and you can see they put a lot of effort in making it as appealing as possible, but as for the gameplay....OMG ! Ok, to be honest its not THAT bad (the graphics are nice and the game saves your progress) but what kills it is the length of the levels, combined with the often unfair number of hazards, insufficient checkpoints and culminating with Bowser which is still considered part of the last level, so every time you run out of lives fighting him, you have to do the WHOLE LEVEL OVER before you even get another CHANCE to fight him again ! That is where I reached my limit. Perhaps I couldve beaten him if I had infinite tries, but after discovering that you indeed go back to the earlier tank level, my brain just gave up. I knew I wouldnt fair any better, no matter how many times Id play, especially since you risk dying a few times in the main level and by the time you eventually make it back, you wont have neither lives nor energy left to fight the bastard, let alone win ! Sometimes theres so much shit on the screen at once and everything just gangs up on you, theres no place you can stand and have no choice but to take a hit. Maybe I gave up a bit too soon, but again: I have my limits - when I say its too much, then its too fu*kin much ! You have to admit that its not the worst run of mine, since I at least manage to make it up to the last boss, despite not beating him. Not a bad world in terms of presentation, but it got rejected because of the difficulty, the final boss being the biggest issue in that respect. I consider it to be a pretty big oversight, given how difficult the game is overall - at least cut me some slack by putting right back at the final battle ! Danny out. Were nearing the end of the game now - only 2 more levels to go. To be perfectly fair, I cant wait to get this over with and start working on a new game - its been entirely too much of the same thing. The fact that I lost the original video of this world further brought the excitement level down, as I had to redo the entire level AFTER finishing the game, which was completely and utterly tedious and devoid of any interest. You people have been asking for the Softendo port of World 9-level 2 in Mario Forever 6.0, so here it is : after hours of trying I was finally able to beat it ON MY LAST LIFE :) Sadly, like in level 1, the game gets stuck after reaching the castle, so I couldnt get to level 3 (unless level 3 is placed at the end of another level in the main game, the same way this one is placed after the Human Laboratory). What sucks about this level is that if you lose all your lives, to try it again, you have to go through the entire Human Lab again, which is tedious as all hell, but on the upside you get to stock up on extra lives. Bottom line, I did it so you dont have to. All the rage and cursing in the video is for entertainment purposes only, so dont take it too seriously, I usually dont mean all the things I say (its just a game after all), I just do it for your fun and laughs :) Mario Forever 6.0 - World 9-2 by Syzxchulun Walkthrough [HD]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yEJ4FvORFrY/mqdefault.jpg)
