FIRST EVER SUB 19 -3 IL (as small mario)! As I was practicing for upcoming 2:30.2xx Minus World Ending WR improvement attempts, myself and others had the idea of going for a crazy IL with FFA at the start + a perfect clip. Although I previously thought this was absolutely ridiculous, I got a confidence boost after getting a perfect clip from a savestate a few times. This IL is literally perfect for the strats I went for, and it involves: FFA at the start, a D+R for good subpixels, a subspeed manip, 4 frame perfect jumps in the wall (3 of which are with 15hz mashing) without holding left to save subpixels, and a frame perfect right repress. Popoff was very loud due to how insanely quickly I got this even though I wasn't taking attempts of it seriously. I had no clue at the time of going for this that this IL was a sub 19 by a frame, but now knowing this, I am a whole lot prouder of this achievement! This would be a 2:30.136 if done in a run, which even bops my old Human Theory TAS: youtu.be/gKUBOySUU1o
There are only two frames left until maxout for this IL / TAS tie SoB for small mario, and they come from: Different positioning when jumping to the wall to allow for a 3 jump clip instead of a 4 jump clip, and an R,L,R+A accel out of the wall for the final frame. Huge thanks to Gaster for finding me a clip setup for FFA and for figuring out what the perfect frame for my strats was!
