This is recorded through real hardware using a sd2snes.
These prototypes called "Super Donkey" came alongside the Yoshi's Island source code and tools from the 2020 gigaleak, showing an early prototype using a limbless Mario in aviator costume and a graphical style very similar to Yoshi's Island. Assets from this game can be found within the workspace files of Shigefumi Hino, director and designer of Yoshi's Island, and is referred to as "z-sword", where assets for a canned Zelda 2D sidescroller for the Super Famicom can also be found.
This first prototype shows a very messy level design that is made to show Mario's fluid animations and the large panel of movements possible.
I tried my best to play the entire level "as intended" without using the charged flying ability.
