So it turns out that what I had discovered was only the base of what it can do.
Someone found out you can chain these together to make a massive time save, if you hit 44 or more jewels at the end of the level it will carry over to the next.
While I did theorize that this was even possible, I never had the chance to really pull it out of the bag practically.
