This is the hike to Svartifoss, one of South Iceland's most photogenic waterfalls, rain or not 🤩

The trailhead starts at the campsite and visitor center in Skaftafell 📍

It's about 3.2 km (2 miles) round trip straight to the waterfall and back, and it took us around 40 minutes total, including stops for filming 🎥

The first half is steep, but it levels out from there. Along the way, you'll pass a couple of other waterfalls, including Hundafoss 💦

Svartifoss gets its name from the dark basalt columns surrounding it — that dramatic, organ-pipe rock formation is what makes this one stand out 🤩

You can view it from a few different angles; just make sure to stay on the designated viewing platforms ⚠️

Sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended — the trail gets muddy, especially in the rain.

Even on a gray day, this hike delivers! 🥾⛰️
