A pair of Summer Tanagers (Piranga rubra) rest for a moment in a Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) tree at Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary, in High Island, TX, USA. The yellow female flies away, and the red male stays a bit longer to wipe his bill on his perch before flying away, too.
These birds were probably in Mexico jus the day before. So I can understand the desire to rest a bit after flying nonstop across the Gulf of Mexico.
