Learn about the five tracks offered at Summer Academy 2020, a one-week program for high school students hosted by The King’s College. King’s is the only Christian liberal arts college in the heart of New York City, and we’re dedicated to teaching students to courageously and thoughtfully engage society.
Week 1, July 12-17, 2020
* Sports Economics: With Dr. Jared Pincin, learn about the cartel behavior of the NCAA, how economics can determine the value of players, and how statistics has changed the way professional sports is played.
* Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?: With Dr. David Talcott, explore the problem of moral disagreement, drawing from philosophy and psychology to understand why it is so difficult to find political common ground.
* Faith and Finance: With Dr. Kimberly Reeve, study the economics, instruments, and institutions of financial markets using New York City as our case study. Learn how Biblical principles are applicable to everyday operations at financial institutions.
Week 2, July 26-July 31, 2020
* Arts & Culture Reporting: With Wall Street Journal veteran Prof. Paul Glader, become acquainted with the current landscape of the world’s cultural headquarters and learn what it takes to be an influencer in a such a competitive field.
* Sports Journalism: With experienced editor and sportswriter Prof. Clemente Lisi, practice the craft of sports journalism with on-the-ground writing experiences like covering a ball game.
