Suikoden II Extras Part 2:
After I took the Matilda Glitch as help i trained my character to lvl 36, and then died against Harpy in Mt. Rakutei. My last save spot was in Kyaro before fighting Rowd, so after dying I retained my lvl and could beat Rowd without having any problems.
