Spring 2024 was a season of unusually bright Northern Lights visible far further South than normal - or at least it would have been if I wasn't living in the nation's largest city where everything is washed out in light pollution.
In May, just a few days after the highlight of the light show, I was sent up North to Sudbury for some location work. There was still a good chance of catching some of the Aurora, so I was sure to bring my camera gear with me.
When I arrived at the hotel, I was thrilled to see there was a huge hill right beside the building, so I didn't even have to go hunting for a photo spot, it was right there!
Every night that skies were clear, I was up on that mountain top recording a time-lapse, hoping to catch something. I didn't. So I turned it into this timelapse of skies, stars, and an overexposed moon.
Each night, I was prioritizing aiming the camera towards where the lights were most likely to appear, I wasn't thinking about capturing nothing at all and trying to salvage the material into a regular timelapse video, so please forgive the jumpcuts.
