As she continues her journey to Al Jazeera State, IRC UK Executive Director Flora Alexander describes the emotional toll that the world’s biggest humanitarian crisis is taking on the ordinary people who live there in the second of a three-part series.

Fear, loss, separation and disrupted hopes and ambitions are common among those experiencing conflict. The IRC is providing support to people experiencing the trauma of war, but without a clear path to peace, civilians will continue to bear the brunt of the conflict.
