I designed the suck fence to make repeatable thin rips, but in this demonstration, I use it just for auxiliary dust collection. I discovered that thin cut-offs get pulled away from the blade, preventing hazardous contact that can occur doing these kinds of thin trim cuts. The suck fence creates a wide area of negative pressure that captures most of the fine dust created above the saw table. I did not have to wear a mask during these cuts, making operation much more comfortable. My swing arm port doesn't work for these cuts so normally this would make a huge mess. Suck fence gets it done. It also worked well for dust collection on the router table, better than the typical 2" opening on my router fence. Suck fence uses the full blast of a 4" port powered by a 2300 CFM blower. It has serious capabilities that I will be continuing to experiment with. The screen enables the use of the 4" port for auxiliary collection without the danger of wood chunks entering the system.
