#Suburbia (HD 1983) Also known as Rebel Streets and The Wild Side, is a 1984 film written and directed by Penelope Spheeris about suburban runaway punk movements. The children take up a minimalist punk lifestyle by belonging to a squatter movement in abandoned suburban housing estates. The punks are played by Chris Pedersen, Bill Coyne and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist #Flea, among others. With the exception of Bill Coyne and Chris Pedersen, who were professional actors, director Penelope Spheeris recruited street kids and punk rock musicians to play each role, rather than hiring child actors to play punk rockers.
Vincent Canby called it "a compassionate, 'clear-eyed' melodrama about a host of youth defections" and "probably the best teen-in-revolt movie since Jonathan Kaplan's Over the Edge."

The film contains live footage of D.I. performing "Richard Hung Himself", #TSOL performing "Wash Away" and "Darker My Love", and #TheVandals performing "The Legend of Pat Brown". In turn, the film inspired the Pet Shop Boys song "Suburbia."
