It is possible to obtain 7 free Purple Tablets without having to craft them using valuable Ion Cubes. All bar 1 are on the Enforcement Platform island.
I believe there are a total of 8 doors in the game requiring Purple Tablets (correct me if I’m wrong in the comments). This means that, if opening all doors, one of them will require using an Ion Cube, of which there are a limited supply before endgame. To avoid soft-locking the game, keep at least 1 Purple Tablet, or 1 Ion Cube for making one, to open the door behind which is the Blue Tablet, late in the game.
In the unlikely event that all doors except this door have been opened using all 7 of the freely obtainable Purple Tablets, an Ion Cube will be required for making one, many of which require Purple Tablets to access. There are 4 freely obtainable Ion Cubes not requiring any Tablet, an Ion Cube deposit of about 10 Ion Cubes requiring the Prawn Suit’s Drill Arm, and a further 3 Ion Cubes that instead require an Orange Tablet. One freely obtainable Ion Cube, and the big Ion Cube deposit, are in the same place as the locked door containing the Blue Tablet, making this soft-lock scenario somewhat unlikely.
