PETER MURRELL’S guilty plea has detonated a political bombshell in Scotland.

The former SNP chief executive — and husband of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon — has admitted embezzling more than £400,000 from party funds over more than a decade.

But now the focus is shifting beyond Murrell himself… and onto the bigger political question:

How much if anything did Nicola Sturgeon know?

Sturgeon has strongly denied any knowledge of wrongdoing.

In a new statement, she said she had “no knowledge or suspicion whatsoever” that SNP funds were being used for personal purchases. She also said the couple had separate finances and separate bank accounts, and that both were earning high salaries — meaning she had no reason to suspect Murrell was not spending his own money.
