Studio Shaft has pumped out some of the most recognizable anime from the late 2000's to the mid 2010's. Each project of theirs has a specific Shaft flare that makes them unique compared to your average anime production. Most of their shows nowadays turn out incredibly well produced, but that wasn't always the case. In fact, Bakemonogatari's production was particularly rocky and shows produced before it seemed to have a rough time as well.
Join me as I discuss the unique way that Shaft directed both Bakemonogatari and Hidamari Sketch, how Shaft worked around their budget, and how the studio succeeded despite the odds against them.
