On this fourth day of the STS-87 mission, the flight crew, Cmdr. Kevin R. Kregel, Pilot Steven W. Lindsey, Mission Specialists Winston E. Scott, Kalpana Chawla, and Takao Doi, and Payload Specialist Leonid K. Kadenyuk check out the spacesuits for the EVA planned for later during the mission. Mission Control developed plans that may allow Scott and Doi to recapture the Spartan satellite by hand during that EVA. Released Nov. 1997.
