WWII Fletcher-class destroyer USS KIDD (DD-661) has been away from her home in Baton Rouge for over a year now having hull work done in drydock at Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors in Houma, LA. Now, she's entering the home stretch. We have achieved our fundraising goals for the hull repair and are extending the drydock period for a few more weeks to accomplish the most that we can. In Part Two of this two-part video, Ship Superintendent Tim NesSmith takes you on a deep dive into the bowels of the ship to see the discoveries made by our structural survey in September 2024 and what repair work remains to be done and why it's so important.
