Strontium is nature's GPS / Strontium reveals our ancestors' place of origin and travel

Strontium is an element found in the soil, in the water and in plants and animals. Through the food we eat and water we drink strontium is stored in our teeth, hair, nails and bones. By examining prehistoric individuals' strontium isotope signatures we can identify our ancestors' place of origin and travel. Strontium isotope values serve as a geochemical signature that can be used to identify a particular geological area and thus a geographic location.
