How strong is our new Ultralight Hammock Haven Spectre? We pushed it to the absolute limit to find out.
Real-world testing is the best way to prove our gear. We asked the local zoo if we could borrow a walrus... After their hard pass. We turned to salt and eventually ourselves—loading it with a staggering 2,340 lbs (1061 kg) of weight.
Here’s how it went down:
✅ We started with 40 bags of salt (50 lbs each), filling the hammock to a total of 2,000 lbs.
✅ Then Derek (CEO) and Tim (COO) climbed on top, adding another 340 lbs.
✅ The hammock held—no rips, no catastrophic failures.
✅ The only challenge? Keeping it off the ground. We had to reload and adjust the straps a few times. At one point, the tractor we used to lift the straps started tipping over—so we had to reposition and resecure everything.
