In this video I talk about the increase in unglued and erratic behavior we’re seeing — from celebrity examples to random public attacks — and why awareness matters.
I start with recent cases (Ariana Grande fan concerns, Perez Hilton’s rapid shift from breakfast video to self-harm stream, the In-N-Out shooting, and other random attacks). Then I look at possible drivers: constant media bombardment, economic and affordability pressure, job losses tied to AI and market shifts, and general stress.
I’m not a psychologist. I’m a business professional who’s spent decades managing diverse teams. From that experience, here are practical signs that someone may be struggling:
• Sudden, abrupt personality changes
• Major shifts in life goals or trajectory
• Unexpected “end-of-life” behavior (giving away valued items)
• Overreacting to small stimuli
• Loss of interest in things they previously loved
• Decline in personal hygiene
• Sudden withdrawal or excessive manic behavior
We can’t fix every stressor or control other people. But noticing these patterns can inform how we interact and when we decide to involve others.
If you see concerning behavior: HR, law enforcement, medical help, or family are resources.
If you’re the one struggling: reach out to friends, a pastor, counselor, or a prevention hotline.
Many of these incidents are random. When it involves someone in your circle or workplace, the signs are often visible beforehand — much like a black swan event that looks obvious only in hindsight.
Stay alert. Stay practical. Look out for one another when you can.
