Just to add my own opinion on this, I don't believe there's a new Drake or an old Drake. I do believe that, just like regular people, Drake progressed. He became more of a solid artist, then just a regular rapper from Toronto.
Sure, I've been very skeptical of some of the music he's dropped or featured on, but regardless of that, take into account that, Drake has a family, just like all of us that he needs to provide for, as well as friends and loved ones. Would you like to still be a struggling artist in Toronto with local buzz? Nope. People seem to believe that just because Drake was in Degrassi that he had has millions of dollars, even after the show was over. What was Drake doing other than Degrassi? Nothing. Like, really, nothing. Maybe a little bit here and there but, really. Nothing. And further into the show (not that I watch, but from a cousin who watched the show) Drake's part got smaller and smaller. Drake revealed that during the recording process of So Far Gone, money was getting tighter. His part in Degrassi ended in 06'. After Degrassi his money was pretty much destined to dwindle. If It weren't for his meeting with Lil Wayne, he would have been pretty much been holdin down a regular job of some sort. Maybe would have went back to school to finish up.
I don't agree however that he changed up due to being with Wayne. With or without, he was destined to continue on and evolve as he got older into the artist he is now. He's still hip hop, he just isn't following on like any regular emcee, he's a game changer, no matter how you see it. The hip hop influence is still there though. You just gotta listen hard. Anyways, enjoy.
