Many fans consider Street Fighter Alpha 3, also known as Street Fighter Zero 3 in Japan, not only the best Street Fighter Alpha game, but possibly the best Street Fighter game ever made. I wasn’t always in that camp, but after spending more time with it, including the many flavours of it such as Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper, Street Fighter Zero 3 Max, and the Street Fighter Alpha 3 Game Boy Advance port, my opinion has definitely shifted. While I’m still not convinced it deserves its legendary status, this Street Fighter Alpha 3 retrospective has shown me just how deep and experimental the game really was.
