I’m snuggled up in bed. Enjoying some ice cream and watching a documentary on Netflix. Nights like these are rare, it isn’t often that everyone’s out of the house but me, so I make sure to savor them, in fact, I wasn’t expecting anyone back till the morning. That’s what made the sound of the front door opening so alarming.
I quickly turn off the TV. My whole body begins to shiver in fear as I leap out from under the covers, with the spoon still in my hand. I run toward the closet and force myself inside. I hear footsteps, heavy and indiscreet, like they want me to know they’re here. The footsteps get louder. His voice sounded familiar. A man walks inside. He slowly walks towards the bed and sees the ice cream. I can’t tell if I know him or not - at this point I’m so scared, my heart’s nearly beating out of my chest and I can’t process my thoughts.
He heard me.
I can’t stop shaking. I freeze for a second and attack him with the spoon. He didn’t fight back, but I couldn’t stop striking him until he becomes motionless. He’s completely knocked out and I run away as far as I can, crying in disgust. I sit down for a moment and exhale heavily before regaining my composure. Pull out my phone and open twitter. I search #party, hopefully this time I’ll find a household that isn’t lying when they say they’ll be out all night.
