This may sound like random notes to the untrained ear. However, in reality, this is using a uniquely generated musical scale.
Anomalies can now generate hundreds of unique musical scales, depending on the parameters and settings used.
Don't worry, you have the option of using the standard 12 tone scale we humans are used to. But if you prefer, you can set it to generate musical scales of up to 1050 different tones.
A normal piano consists of 88 keys, with 12 different notes at different octaves. These are the common notes we know as "Do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti do." These 12 notes repeat themselves on a keyboard such that the second do is exactly twice as high in frequency as the first one. These 12 notes have been found to produce sounds that are harmonious with one another, which is why they are so commonly used in music. With Anomalies, one can create musical scales that have many more (or less) notes in each octave, up to 1050 right now (though this may change).
The melody you are hearing in this video uses a musical scale that consists of 19 separate notes. The obvious difference is that these notes do not sound as pleasing together as the 12 we are used to. However, my hope is that perhaps, through experimentation, we may use Anomalies to discover other harmonious musical scales that are as of yet unknown.
