So, today we are out and about walking in the Spa town of Cheltenham which is in the county of Gloucestershire in the south west of England.
On the 19th October 2023 Storm Babet entered the UK, as areas of low pressure had pushed it's way through France and across the Channel. The north east of the UK bore the brunt of the storm and in particular eastern Scotland which was impacted by strong winds as well as unprecedented flooding. Many other areas of the UK have experienced serious flooding too. The land of OAAW got off fairly lightly in comparison to previously mentioned Scotland but still experienced some fairly intense rainfall at times, with the heaviest being the following morning (Fri 20th Oct) in Gloucestershire around 9:00 am for 1 - 2 hours. By late Saturday afternoon / evening the majority of the storm should have petered out.
Out of all the walks we have done so far, this is probably one of my personal favourites to date. I am not sure why, tho...maybe it is because I thoroughly enjoy walking in the rain (regardless of whereabouts!) & love all the rain sounds & reflections within the environment which are most appreciated after dark!
