Stories on the Move – P&G Europe Sustainability and Community Impact Stories – makes P&G's citizenship efforts visible through the people who bring them to life.
P&G has achieved a 60% greenhouse gas reduction versus its 2010 baseline – a milestone on the path to Net Zero by 2040 (P&G data on file for fiscal year 2023/2024). Global Climate Leader Bram Keteleer shows how decarbonization works in practice, from his own renovated home in Belgium to the P&G Mechelen plant, where emissions have been cut by 69%.

• Inge De Backer, Corporate Communications Director – P&G Europe
• Lucie Maurice, Engineering and Sustainability Manager – P&G Mechelen, Belgium
Decarbonizing at scale is not a single decision – it is a daily practice. At P&G, we aim to make that sustainable practice visible and measurable by installing energy meters that surface inefficiencies to closing renewable electricity contracts that eliminate Scope 2 emissions. Stories on the Move brings this work to life by following the colleagues who make it happen, in the places where impact actually happens.
Bram Keteleer lives by the same principles at home that guide his work across P&G. His 1970s house was stripped to its inner walls and rebuilt with 18 cm of insulation and a ground heat pump – fully electrified, no gas connection, zero Scope 1 emissions at home. Inside P&G's manufacturing sites, the logic is identical: meters identify losses, steam systems are converted to hot water, technologies are electrified, and renewable electricity providers reduce the Scope 2 footprint. These combined steps have delivered a 60% greenhouse gas reduction versus P&G's 2010 baseline – citizenship in real life, showing the people behind the commitments.
At the Mechelen plant in Belgium, that progress still goes further. Engineering and Sustainability Manager Lucie Maurice explains how since 2010, the site achieved a 69% reduction in GHG emissions through a combination of activities. Recently, those included switching from steam to hot water for certain processes, upgrading utility equipment, and incorporating digitization and sensors throughout the plant.
The Mechelen team is now working with thermal engineers on a heat recovery glide path designed to reach site-level Net Zero.
Bram describes the journey as a marathon: there are setbacks, and there is a runner’s high. With every plant that electrifies, every inefficiency caught by a meter, and every solar panel commissioned, P&G moves closer to the finish line.
What you'll learn:
• How P&G defines and manages Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions
• What has driven a 60% GHG reduction across P&G manufacturing since 2010
• How the Mechelen plant achieved a 69% emissions reduction
• How electrification and heat recovery are replacing fossil fuels on the road to Net Zero 2040
• What it looks like when a climate leader applies the same decarbonization principles at home and at work
