More open isn’t always better!

We see so many clips of vocal coaches telling singers to open their mouths more…

And while that can definitely be helpful, it’s not always the solution!

I am living proof for that.

When I open my mouth too much I get very shouty and wide…

I actively have to work on creating a smaller shape to keep my sound and vowels more focused, giving me a clear belt, rather than a shouty tone.

So whenever you’re consuming singing tips on this platform, take everything with a grain of salt (this here included!), because not everything works for everyone.

Thank you Coach Bri (amazing coach on our team!) for helping find that more focused and belty sound.

Not only did that sound a lot better, but it also felt more effortless!

Win-win 🥳

Check out the whole episode where coach Bri - our versatility expert - talks about how she approaches vocal coaching and is coaching me through the song “Fallin” by Alicia Keys!
